ENTERPRISE SINGAPORE AND OPEN INNOVATION CHALLENGES

This Challenge is organised by Enterprise Singapore (“EnterpriseSG”), the government agency that champions enterprise development and works with companies to build capabilities, innovate and internationalise. EnterpriseSG also supports the growth of Singapore as a hub for tech startups.


As part of the agency’s efforts to drive innovation, it launches a number of Open Innovation Challenges every year, each involving multiple corporations across the region. 


Participating corporations provide challenge statements seeking innovative tech solutions and a test-bed for these solutions.

Identify Needs

  • Demand driver shares details of challenges or pain points for which solutions are sought
     

  • EnterpriseSG and Open Innovation (OI) Facilitator helps to refine challenge statement

Gather Solutions

  • Launch of Open Innovation Challenge
     

  • Demand Driver to share challenge statements
     

  • Global and regional outreach efforts to encourage applications from relevant solvers

Shortlisting Solvers

  • EnterpriseSG and OI Facilitator pre-screen and shortlist solvers
     

  • Demand Driver interviews shortlisted solvers and select winning startups/SMEs

Pilot Implementation

  • Winning solvers will develop a product-pilot fit
     

  • Demand Driver work with solver for pilot implementation and test bedding

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Resources

  • Provide cash prizes (~S$10k-50k) and/or paid trials/pilot opportunities (~S$25k-70k in value) for awarded innovators
     

  • In-kind resources to support and facilitate testbeds and pilots

Commitment

Obtain internal business units and management support to:
 

  • Provide details and requirements of the challenge statements
     

  • Support the selected innovators in developing and test-bedding the solution
     

  • Plan for the deployment of the solution
     

  • Cater for procurement if solution developed is successful
     

  • Take part in all activities relating to the innovation challenge

Outreach

Plan for the deployment of the solution
 

  • Share about SOIC through corporate publicity or social media posts
     

  • Allow publicity around successful trials / projects
